Dubious Distinction: Florida lawmakers April 29 approved Medicaid anti-fraud bills (S.B. 2658, S.B. 1986) that would designate Miami-Dade County as a “health care fraud area of special concern” and provide new licensure requirements for home health agencies, durable medical equipment providers, and health care clinics. Among other things, S.B. 2658 and S.B. 1986 would establish additional licensure requirements, including requiring a $500,000 surety bond for nonimmigrant aliens who have controlling interest in one of the…
