Johnson & Johnsons Nordic unit (Sollentuna, Sweden) has acquired Amic (Uppsala, Sweden), a developer of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) technology for use at the point of care, to bolster J&J-owned Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics. Johnson & Johnson expects to incur an estimated one-time after-tax charge of approximately $40 million during the second quarter of 2008 related to the deal. Other details of the transaction were not disclosed.
