April 2008
Mergers and acquisitions in the diagnostic imaging industry, which had slowed to almost a standstill in the last few years, are once again on the rise. Since June 2007, there have been 11 deals worth more than $743 million, according to Washington G-2 estimates.
Current M&A activity is being fueled in large part by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, which has taken a financial toll on many imaging providers, leaving them ripe for acquisition. Experts predict that consolidation in the industry will continue throughout 2008 and into 2009.
