Mark Johnston started his lab career in 1988 with National Health Laboratories, and during his 12-year tenure with LabCorp he served in a variety of field and corporate roles, including his last position as vice president of national managed care and hospital alliances. In that position he guided LabCorps connectivity strategy and sat on its strategic planning committee. In 2000, Johnston started LabPortal.com and served as president and CEO until Quest Diagnostics acquired the company in April 2002. He then served as the vice president of sales and marketing for MedPlus, the wholly owned technology subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics, where he helped to build and deploy the Care 360 product. After leaving MedPlus, Johnston served as vice president of sales for Practice Partner, a Seattle-based EMR and practice management system software development company. He moved to the Spokane area and joined PAML in August 2005. At PAML, he is responsible for Outreach Advantage LLC and recently served as the CIO, where he was responsible for IT operations, strategy, and execution across PAML and all of its joint ventures. Johnston was a practicing CPA for Deloitte and Touche before entering the laboratory industry. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in accounting.
