Kathleen A. Murphy
Kathleen A. Murphy, Ph.D., president of Chi Solutions Inc. (formerly Park City Solutions),
has over 25 years of progressively responsible experience in laboratory management and consulting. Dr. Murphy has been with Chi Solutions since 1994 and was promoted to president in 2005 after serving in various roles as vice president over the management services and consulting divisions. As the senior executive, she provides oversight for the more complex consulting and management engagements.
Dr. Murphy is a noted national speaker on topics of laboratory operations, performance improvement, laboratory outreach programs, and laboratory accreditation. Chi has received national attention for regulatory turnarounds in hospital laboratories over the past couple of years. Dr. Murphy has managed these widely publicized engagements. Chi also co-sponsors the annual Laboratory Outreach Conference with Washington G-2 and performs an annual survey of outreach programs across the country that is widely regarded and referenced.
Prior to joining Chi Solutions, Dr. Murphy served as director of operations for laboratory and radiology at Boston University Medical Center (BUMC) and director of laboratories at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center of Boston (SEMC), where she managed laboratories in complex academic settings. She is noted for leadership, financial innovation, vision, motivation of staff, reengineering and turnarounds in operations, and client relationships through quality management. She also planned, implemented, and managed two large, successful laboratory outreach programs in a highly competitive market.
Dr. Murphy obtained her Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of North Dakota, where she also earned a Master of Science degree. She graduated summa cum laude from Salem State College in Salem, Massachusetts, with a B.A. in biology.
