KATHLEEN A. MURPHY , PhD, President, has over twenty-five years of progressively responsible experience in management and consulting in laboratories and imaging centers. Dr. Murphy has been with Chi Solutions, Inc. since 1994. She was promoted to President in 2005 after serving in various roles as Vice President over the management services and consulting divisions. As a key senior executive, she provides oversight for the more complex consulting and management engagements, including strategic options, optimization of operations, consolidation, and deployment and improvement of outreach programs.
Dr. Murphy is a noted national speaker and author on topics of operations improvement, outreach trends, and laboratory accreditation. Chi has received national attention for regulatory turnarounds in hospital laboratories, widely publicized engagements that were managed by Dr. Murphy. Helping hospitals compete with independent laboratories and imaging centers is a personal passion of hers. She works with Dennis Weismann and Washington G-2/IOMA to plan and co-sponsor the annual Laboratory Outreach Conference. Dr. Murphy also performs market research and publishes an annual survey of outreach programs that is widely regarded and referenced.
Prior to joining Chi, Dr. Murphy served as Director of Operations for Laboratory and Radiology at Boston University Medical Center (BUMC) and Director of Laboratories at St. Elizabeths Medical Center of Boston (SEMC) where she managed laboratories and imaging centers in complex, academic settings. Her education and training is primarily as a scientist (PhD in Microbiology) with executive education at Dartmouth.
