Brian Dapp

Implementation Specialist, OpEx, Inc.

Brian Dapp joined OpEx Inc. in 2004 after nearly 15 years of diverse operations experience. This includes leading 400-plus person organizations through both rapid expansion and contraction. He has been implementing process improvements throughout his career, but in 2001 he attended Lean Manufacturing training and became a "believer." Having experienced Lean Implementations as both a client and consultant, Dapp fully understands the pressures and issues involved in leading an organization through rapid change.

After graduating from Purdue University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in industrial technology, Dapp started his career as an associate manufacturing engineer at BF Goodrich Aerospace (Rohr Inc.). While there, he participated in a two-year rotational development program that provided broad-based knowledge of the entire operations division. In addition, Dapp attended San Diego State University and earned a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Systems. After four years, Dapp left BF Goodrich Aerospace to join Raytheon Aircraft as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. He held several increasingly responsible positions during his 10 years, ultimately becoming Senior Manager of Operations. During this time, Dapp used his Lean skills to yield year-over-year improvements in all aspects of safety, quality, schedule, and cost. Dapp has comprehensive experience in budget development and management, project management, capital planning, justification, and implementation, facilities layout, personnel management, union contracts, organization redesign, ERP implementation, and overall waste elimination.

Since joining OpEx Inc. in 2004, Dapp has applied his Lean knowledge to health-care operations, working with clients such as Cord Blood Registry, University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview, Stanford University Medical Center, Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center, Geisinger Medical Laboratories, Salina Regional Health Center, New York Blood Center, and the American Red Cross.
